Kodmeda, our Lithuanian distributor, was founded in 1997. The company started off by selling X-ray film processors, X-ray cassettes and screens, X-ray films and chemicals. In 2004, Kodmeda expanded their range of products and services: from traditional X-ray viewers to innovative digital X-ray systems. Currently employing 8 highly qualified personnel, they now distribute various established brands, including products from IMAGE Information Systems and IMAGE Displays Solutions, and provide installations of innovative technology in national medical institutions and hospitals. Kodmeda installed the very first computed radiography system in Lithuania.

One of Kodmeda’s customers, the Naujininku Outpatient Hospital in Vilnius, was seeking to increase throughput of its two X-ray systems, which were being used. Their aim was to ease the work conditions of the personnel, to increase the quality of X-ray examinations and to have a PACS as well as a powerful archive for X-ray images.

Kodmeda attended to this need by installing IMAGE’S iQ-CR ACE reader to digitize X-ray images, an iQ-VIEW PRO image acquisition station, an iQ-WEBX PACS and online viewer, two matching IMAGE Displays iQ-2MP PRO and an automatic media creator, iQ-ROBOT.

After a transition period for the hospital staff to master new type of work, the customer is more than pleased having the modern, improved workflow and unmatched X-ray image quality. Apart from increased efficiency, the investment will also be paid off by saving X-ray film and wet development costs. By the way, the Naujininku Hospital is currently thinking about taking the next step of introducing teleradiology, which could resolve increasing problems due to the shortage of radiologists.
