Question

Does the system administrator send images to certain folders which allows referring doctors access to only their studies or is there some preference set in the DICOM header that controls access?

Answer

All images are stored in a DICOM compatible way on the hard disk or RAID. We recognize the referring physicians (stored in a DICOM tag) and allow only the physicians to access their data. E.g. if Dr. Miller refers you a patient, your operator types at a CT console Dr. Miller as referring physician (or you get this data automatically by worklist from a RIS). Dr. Miller receives a login and password and is able to access all its referred studies (but only his studies).
