The iQ-THYROID module serves for the calculation of thyroid uptake relatively to an applied activity. This value is an important parameter to estimate the metabolic activity of the thyroid. TC-99m-Pertechnetat as the applied agent concentrates mainly in the thyroid. Static acquisition of the thyroid can be performed using any gamma camera. The absorbed activity can be calculated with iQ-THYROID using the flexible ROI function.

Additionally, iQ-THYROID serves for the calculation of the therapy dose of radioiodine-therapy which is often used for the therapy of hot nodes. To calculate this dose, an I-131 NaI capsule is administered and thyroid scintigrams will be recorded during a few days. iQ-THYROID can calculate the therapy dose by using the ROI function.

The module is based on the procedure guidelines for thyroid scintigraphy and radioiodine test of the German Society of Nuclear Medicine. All required information for data acceptance and processing are available in these documents.
