(Center of Imaging and Research in Equine Locomotor Affections) Normandy (France)
CIRALE is a unit of the National Veterinary School of Alfort dedicated to the diagnostic imaging of the equine locomotor system.
CIRALE now successfully manages its equine patients with a custom-made RIS exclusively for horses - “CIRAL-IS” (IMAGE’S VET-RIS Equine) - which IMAGE Information Systems (IIS) has developed and our local distributor IDR (Image Dynamique Radiologique) has installed. For superior diagnostics, they are using two PRO Series IMAGE DISPLAYS - the first medical displays worldwide with a full 12bit image transfer. Prof. Fabrice Audigié from the center gives an insight on the developments that have positively affected the staff’s day-to-day activities:
“The RIS-PACS system was installed in June 2009. In less than 2 months, the RIS has been modified to include specific fields for equine patients such as owner and trainer information, horse activities, species etc. Reports have also been completely rethought to be more efficient for veterinary activities. Improvements have also been made to distinguish reports sent to owner or trainer and those sent to referring veterinarians. For the PACS, collaboration has also begun to implement IQ-VIEW with new veterinary image post-processing tools.
Further developments are in progress such as the creation of research tools in the RIS database for evaluating annual activities and for research purposes. The opening of images and examination reports through internet for the owners and referring veterinarians with maintaining a strict respect of confidentiality represents also one of our future objectives. All these changes are very exciting for us because they improve the data workflow and consequently our daily activities in terms of clinical services, teaching and research activities.”

Introducing VET-RIS and VET-RIS EQUINE |
|
Last month, we officially launched our VET product family. Today, we would like to introduce two new members of this family: VET-RIS and VET-RIS EQUINE. As an integral system, VET-RIS covers the whole imaging process from the front desk through the device work list management to the creation of reports using veterinary specific templates. Several tools enable veterinary hospitals and imaging centers to optimize their diagnostic imaging workflow:
- Scheduler provides an easy and complete overview and management of appointments
- Specific fields for veterinary records are included
- Customizable workflow management tool with all relevant information visible at first sight (e.g. waiting time, indication, referring physician)
- Report Manager offers context, modality and user specific veterinary report templates in VET-RIS EQUINE and VET-RIS PRO
- Easily customizable Billing tool to meet specific veterinary requirements
and many more. VET-RIS EQUINE is truly a milestone in equine medicine because it is the world’s first RIS designed especially for horses. It contains equivalent tools to VET-RIS, thus enabling any equine facility to properly manage its master data as well as to correctly administer its devices, procedures and services. Its innovative and easy-to-use interface makes the management of the equine radiology workflow smooth and fast. Many diagnostic devices do not support veterinary or rather equine tags. However, VET-RIS EQUINE can make even those devices compatible with all equine standards in conjunction with VET-WEBX. Using iQ-WEBX, referring physician and owners may even access their case data via the web. VET-RIS EQUINE is already successfully being used at CIRALE, France, one of the world’s leading equine imaging and research centers (see article further below). VET-RIS and VET-RIS EQUINE can ideally be used within our VET-SYSTEM PACS, but can also be integrated with most PACS systems available on today’s market. Please read through the product brochures to learn more about VET-RIS and VET-RIS EQUINE, their features and capabilities.

Windows 7 Compatibility with iQ |
| As more and more people are using Windows 7, we have successfully performed extensive validation tests on several of our products to ensure that they will all “play nice” with this new operating system. We can now confirm the Windows 7 compatibility for the 32-bit edition of Windows 7 (Professional or higher) as operating system to run iQ-VIEW 2.6, iQ-VIEW 3D, iQ-CAPTURE, iQ-STITCH, iQ-X and DICOMReader 4.0. Work is currently in progress to establish compatibility with the 64 bit edition; we will keep you updated. |
